Wow.
It’s been a fantastic-surprising-overwhelming rollercoaster week of a week in so many ways, and most of all with your generous warm and lovely support of my book, Mixed Feelings.
The feelings continue to be mixed, how could they not be? But your comments and your words get me through and remind me it’s important for us all to make art and FEEL OUR FEELINGS.
I think living our lives is some form of resistance, and I’m proud that I’ve had it in me to keep pushing this book out into the world this week, though it felt counterintuitive at times. Much more than that, I’ve been blown away by your generosity. Thank you for coming along on the journey with me.
Cup of Jo
I’ve been a reader of Cup of Jo for a long time and I’m over the moon to have been featured on the front page this week. I had such a wonderful and meaningful conversation with Kaitlyn Teer, which you can read here.
Number 1 in Feelings
Thrilled to have hit #1 in new releases on Amazon for children’s books about feelings (a competitive category), and to have sold out the first print run of the book. I’m astonished and grateful.
Lofty Pigeon
I’m having a storytime event at Lofty Pigeon at 10:30 am tomorrow, Saturday 1/25, so do please stop by! It’s for kids, but grown-ups are welcome too.

*IF* you’ve ordered the book on Amazon, and have the bandwidth, please consider rating/reviewing on there. It makes a difference.
*I’ll be back to regular Substack programming next week, and can’t wait to share essays and drawings again.
Thank you so much for reading what I️ write on here, and my books, and all of the things.
Liana
Thank You! Just read the book with my 6-year-old. We both loved the illustrations and it spurred lots of great discussion about feelings. She was feeling "sick & hungry" at that moment.
Thank YOU! I just ordered your book, for myself. May give it to a young person at some point, but I have made it my *mission* to get people to spot asking people in grief or transition, "How are you?" because there is no one, neat, easy answer to that question, as your book beautifully demonstrates.
I enjoy your substack very much and am happy to support your work and my local indie bookstore. #WinWin!
