Hi Everyone,
This is a post of drawings, which my occupied/unoccupied brain has been thinking in feverishly - weirdly, being home with a baby puts me back in the pre-kid state where I️ spent a lot of time wandering around, riding subways, going to and from things, idly coming up with little drawings.
(The hormones don’t hurt, either).
Quickly, before I️ have to go back and get her out of her crib, where she’s drying out mid-diaper change - I️ don’t feel exactly like I️ have two kids yet (I️ hear it’s very hard). Where I’m at now is feeling that I️ have one kid and one space alien monster moonbeam who sleeps in my arms most of the day, waking intermittently to gnaw on my breast, growling loudly when it has to poop or fart or burp or eat.
She’s cute - in an otherworldly way rather than a child way. As unknowable (almost) as she was when she was inside me. I️ can’t bear to be away from her. I️ also have nothing to say to her.
On our first day home from the hospital, I️ tried to decipher her facial expressions. I’ve made no headway since then. They’re more familiar - but not less mysterious. Same with her strange, beautiful little noises.
(I️ think experts say those smiles are because of gas? Anyway, they’re so beautiful, Gatsbyesque).
